Emergency Supportive Housing

NEW PROGRAM

Shared House & Family House

  • The Family House is occupied by members of one family.

  • The Shared House is occupied by several unsheltered individuals.

  • Emergency Housing Support is a City resourced housing solution for individuals and families in need of a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.

  • The Emergency Supportive Houses, provide services 24 hours/7 days a week. Offering temporary dwelling and support for up to 19 unduplicated homeless individuals per month, in the City of Alameda.

  • All residents of the Emergency Supportive Housing program must be homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless.

  • Priority for the beds in the shared home are prioritized for use by seniors and the medically fragile.

  • The houses are City property, which The Village of Love operates.

  • Eligibility for selection and referrals for the program will be informed by the ongoing collaboration with City departments, such as the police, fire and planning, as well as external systems like the school district and invested city and county level groups working toward ending homelessness.

FEMA Safe Shelter Trailers

In 2020, The City of Alameda opened the FEMA Safe Sheltering trailers to provide a means of protection for the unsheltered who have conditions that make them more vulnerable and susceptible to Covid-19.

The Village of Love operates the FEMA trailers and checks on the residents daily, aiding with referrals, and housing assistance to support the residents towards  obtaining permanent housing.
